Skirball- Noah's Ark Exhibit

Ryann and I went to the Skirball Noah's Ark exhibit with our wards play day group. It was really nice to get out of the house and get to know the girls in our new ward. Ryann had tons of fun playing with the stuffed animals and crawling around with the other kids. At first I thought that she was too young to enjoy it but I was wrong, she had a blast.

Time to catch up!

A lot has happened since I wrote last. Lets go down the list:



Halloween: We spent our Halloween night trick-or-treating down Main Street, eating pizza and going through a scary haunted house. Ryann was a baby cow and Tyler and I were farmers, she looked so cute.

Trip to Sacramento- We went to Sacramento for Tyler’s grandpa’s funeral, it was a beautiful service and it was so nice that all the family was able to come. We stayed in a beautiful hotel and hung out at Uncle Garry and Aunt Sonny’s beautiful estate. We watched movies in their movie theater (who has a movie theater in their home), rode go-carts and had the time of our life. But the best part of the trip was how all the little cousins just could not get enough of Ryann.









Twilight: I went to opening night to see Twilight with Diana West, Christi and Matt Pobst. Going to the opening night was a great experience, the energy of the audience made all the difference we all gasped, laughed and applauded together. I had such a fun night.



Skateboarding- Ryann got her first feel for skateboarding when dad strapped her little feet to a “Build-A-Bear” skateboard. I think she was a little scared but I think she will warm up to it after time.

Garage Sale- We had our very first garage sale and it was a success. I am not very good at these kind of things so I just sat back and relaxed and let Ty work his magic.

Ty’s B-Day- was the day of the garage sale. So I made him breakfast-in-garage, he had french toast, bacon, fresh fruit and hand squeezed orange juice. Then we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific with Korry, Shannon, Hunter and Brody. Then we went to Outback, which is Ty’s favorite restaurant.

Christmas with Tyler’s side of the family- We celebrated Christmas with Ty’s side of the family the Saturday before Christmas. It was held at our house, the kids decorated cookie, then we ate an amazing breakfast, opened tons of presents and then played on the beach.

The Famous Christmas Eve Party- Every year we go to Tyler’s dads family Christmas Eve Party. We ate cookies, all the kids act out the Nativity Story (Ryann was baby Jesus)and then Santa comes and passes out presents to everyone. After the party we have another tradition were we go to Denny’s and leave our server a Christmas card with a pass-along-card and a crisp one hundred dollar bill. Then we drove around Newport and looked at the pretty lights. Christmas Eve is one of my favorite days of the year.

Christmas- Christmas morning we woke up and opened presents. As I was getting ready Ty went for a Christmas morning surf and then we were off to my parents home. All 40 of my extended family members came over and we enjoyed my grandma’s famous hand made tamales. Ryann looked so adorable and she had so much fun tearing open her gifts.


Moving Day- We officially moved on December 27th but we had been packing our belongings ever since the 1st. You never know how much you have till you are trying to pack it all. We moved into my parents home till Tyler is finished with school (this is Ty’s last semester :). We really miss all of our friends in HB and miss living so close to the beach but it was the right move for our family. We are so thankful for my parents for making us feel so at home. We couldn’t thank them enough.

New Years Eve- On New Years Eve we came back to our apartment and brought in the New Year with our wonderful friends the West family, Pobst family and the Sundberg family. We had a delicious dinner, wrote out our New Years resolutions and brought in the New Year with sparklers. And since the apartment was still ours till the 1st, we slept at our apartment for the last time.

Cry Baby

Tonight is the 3rd night we have let Ryann cry herself to sleep (she is sleeping right now of course because their would be no way I could type with her crying). And it just about kills me to do this. But I know it is best for her and I in the long run. I am using the Ferber method, which is put Ryann down sleepy but not asleep, let her cry for 5 minutes then go in for one minute, then let her cry for 10 minutes and go in for one minute, every time you add 5 minutes. It is really working but it is sad while it lasts. If you have any suggestions on how to make this process easier for Ryann please let me know. I just can't wait till I just can lay her down and she falls fast asleep the moment she hits the sheets (I know this is wishful thinking). I love my little girl so much and I can't wait till this process is over.

Photo Shoot

Ryann just had her second photo shoot, her first one was when she was only 3 days old and her second one was right before she turned 6 months. Our wonderful neighbors, the Pobst family, took the pictures and they came out so cute. Christi was able to get Ryann to smile on command and she had a blast. Matt and Christi just started really getting into photography and they definitely know how to capture the special moments.

BFF

Our adorable neighbor Marley loves to give Ryann hugs. She gets really excited sometimes so excited that she forgets to be "soft" but it is the sweetest thing in the world when they just sit there holding each other.

Ryann and Marley are only a year apart, right now that may seem like a lot but in a few months that year gap will seem like nothing. And in a few months Ryann will also be larger than Marley (she is such a little peanut), I think it is so funny that they wear the same size diaper. What can I say, Ryann likes to eat.

Ryann's First...

It's amazing how fast Ryann is growing up, it feels just like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. But at the same time I can't remember life without her. Ryann is forever changing she is now rolling over, laughing and plays with toys all on her own. This week was a big week for Ryann, she enjoyed her first bike ride, put her little toes in the Pacific, took her first bite of rice cereal and went swimming in a pool.

6 Long Weeks

For the past 6 weeks my husband has not been able to work or do anything fun because he was taking a 6 week government aided course at CSULB studying Chinese. The course was Monday thru Friday 8am- 5pm and Saturdays he was gone on field trips. Tyler studied the language, mastered the Folk Dance, practiced Thai Chi and fell in love with the culture. Like I said it has been a long long 6 weeks but it was totally worth it.
